The village of Horton Kirby
is situated in the civil parish of Horton Kirby and South Darenth.
Horton Kirby School is the local Church of England primary School and caters for pupils aged between 4-11 years of age. The last official Offstead report in 2008 (there was also an interim report in 2011 that showed that the school had retained it's good performance rating) showed that the Horton Kirby School had 282 pupils in attendance with a mixed race background.
As per the Offstead report procedure, a number of parents were asked to fill in a pre-inspection questionnaire, the majority of the reports that were returned showed that the parents were supportive of the school. The report also stated that horton Kirby School is a harmonious School were pupils do well, the headteacher was shown to have developed a strong team approach which supports the school's actions for improvement.

Horton Kirby Cricket Club was originally founded in the year of 1882 and has a number of teams across all age-groups (including four senior teams) that compete in local and national cricket leagues. All age groups are welcome at Horton Kirby CC and allenquires are welcome.

The Bull Horton Kirby is a local pub which serves a wide range of local beers and ales. Local Horton Kirby brews include ciders, Stout, Porter, mild and dark beers. The Bull Horton Kirby is acredited by LocAle and always guarantee's that at least one beer that the Bull pub is serving is brewed within a 30 mile area of the pub itself.

The paper mill in Horton Kirby can trace it's timeline back to the early 1800's (approx 1820 to be precise) and was a major employer in the Horton kirby area in the mid 19th century. the mill has gone through many guises over the years, originally manufacturing paper for National newspapers the paer mill has been used for manufacturing shoelaces and various nuts and bolts for the war effort in the 1940's.

Franks Hall Horton Kirby is a Grade 1 listed manor house which dates back to the late 16th century. Although nobody is now living in the maor house, it is still used as a business premises and can be hired for weddings and civil partnerships.
